Here are some pics from the Annual Gathering Of The Juggalos, a 4 day extravangza of all things white trash. I’m thinking we could do the world a great deal of service if we removed each attendees ability to reproduce….

Extended Comic-Con Trailer for ‘Megamind’

Megamind movie comic-con trailer Will Ferrell Brad Pitt Tina Fey

DreamWork’s Megamind was featured at the 2010 Comic-Con this past week and left an impression on attendees – if only because the film’s panel featured Will Ferrell wearing a blue ball on his head and fully dressed in the titular villain’s costume.

The footage shown at the event amounted to an extended trailer for the 3D animated pic, and is now available online for everyone to view.

Megamind (voiced by Ferrell) is a blue-skinned alien who journeyed to Earth as a child – after the destruction of his home world a la Superman. The official trailer for the film revealed that Megamind’s experience parallels that of the dashing Metro Man (Brad Pitt) – who grew up to become a savior for humanity and Megamind’s arch-nemesis.

It’s your average hero/villain…

“Where Are Your Papers!?” Latino Activists Stage “Raid” at Netroots

On Friday, at Netroots Nation, a group of immigration activists brought the reality of Arizona’s HB 1070 to Netroots attendees by staging a brilliant piece of street (well okay, hotel) theater. As attendees moved into the auditorium for the free lunch sponsored by Moveon.org., Latino activists wearing pseudo-ICE badges, costume HSA patches and otherwise garbed as “authority” stopped people before they entered the hall to grab their sandwiches and sodas and hear a panel on civil rights in the modern era.

The activists asked people who appeared to be white European in origin

for their papers

Some people laughed, some were confused, some just walked by. One guy I spoke with afterward scrawled the word

PAPERS

on a notepad and was asked

Did you pay for these papers?

Organizer Will Coley explained the action:

Our action offended someone and resulted in 30 seconds of frustration, that was the point. As Americans, we should all be offended by actual laws like Arizona’s SB 1070 that harass and profile communities 24 hours a day. It wasn’t about preventing them from getting their lunch. Profiling and injustice is what we wanted folks to think about.

Did Katy Perry & Russell Brand Set The Date???

Russell Brand and Katy Perry are planning a week of wedding celebrations in October 10- their nuptials will stretch over seven days.

Brand proposed to the singer on New Year’s Eveduring a romantic trip to India, and the couple is rumoured to be planning to return to the country to marry later this year.

The couple has now reportedly sent out ‘Save The Date’ cards to their friends and family.

The card, which features a picture of Indian henna hand art, asks guests to “Save The Week for the wedding of Katy and Russell” from 18 to 25 October (2010) and reveals attendees “will need a passport”.

Perry has stated the couple is planning a “small” wedding, saying;

We don’t want it to be a drunk fest of people, just one night and then forgetting about it. We want it to be about love. The wedding will be small. I always have a ton of people around me and I think the people that are going to share this moment with us are the people we want to integrate into each other’s lives.”
