Quick-thinking firemen and zoo staff adapted oxygen masks designed for humans to save the lives of the 140lb African-spurred tortoises.

“We expect them to make a full recovery,” vet Isabella Eberle told CEN. “The masks were designed for human use but we managed to make them fit.”

This baby monkey clings to a young boar for security as it roams about the Fukuchiyama Zoo in Kyoto, Japan. TV reports on the two have caused five times the usual number of people to visit the zoo!

Baby monkeys are known to cling to their mother for many months after they are born, and Miwa the orphaned monkey seems to think of the boar as his mommy (even though the boar is a boy). Miwa has also taken a liking to the woman who works at the zoo’s ticket counter. When he’s not riding the boar, Miwa is usually sleeping in the woman’s lap.

Both the monkey and the wild boar are growing up fast. The rodeos will only continue until the monkey grows out of the stage at which he feels it needs to cling to a parent – or – until the the boar will no longer tolerate the presence of a monkey on his back.

Like the first singer, he performs with perfect legato, clear diction, and a consistent, organic vibrancy. He arranges his resonance space to create a shallow snarl without setting up any resistance for his breath. You can tell how healthy his delivery is from the way he moves in and out of brief moments of harmony with the other tracks with impeccable intonation.

The device works by shining a hollow laser beam around tiny glass particles. The air surrounding the particle heats up, while the dark center of the beam stays cool. When the particle starts to drift out of the middle and into the bright laser beam, the force of heated air molecules bouncing around and hitting the particle’s surface is enough to nudge it back to the center.

A small amount of light also seeps into the darker middle part of the beam, heating the air on one side of the particle and pushing it along the length of the laser beam. If another such laser is lined up on the opposite side of the beam, the speed and direction the particle moves can be easily manipulated by changing the brightness of the beams.

Street Fighter High is a fan film that was released a few months ago. It showed the characters from that video game as angst-ridden high school students. The film was so successful that the producers made a second, longer version. This time, it’s a musical.

So, I’m sure you all have heard about Google’s latest product called Google Instant. If you’re tired of waiting for that fraction of a second for your search result, this is the search engine for you:

Using the new system, as a query is typed, the search box immediately jumps to the top of the search page, and a constantly changing list of suggested pages appears. If the user finds the right site, they don’t need to finish typing or hit "enter." (Source)

Basically, Google tries to predict what you want based on what other people search – and serve up the results faster than you can type out the full query.

The Official Google Blog notes:

The user benefits of Google Instant are many—but the primary one is time saved. Our testing has shown that Google Instant saves the average searcher two to five seconds per search. That may not seem like a lot at first, but it adds up. With Google Instant, we estimate that we’ll save our users 11 hours with each passing second!

That’s all fine and dandy – but I say let’s bring on the new bragging game: What’s Your Google Number? How many letters does it take for your blog to come up as the first result on the new Google Instant?

Neatorama is 4 (NEA brings out Neatorama in the search suggestions, but a full NEAT is required to bring out the blog in the search result). That’s pretty good, but not as cool as 4chan which comes out with just a "4."

Google began rolling out a feature called Google,

The Google doodle yesterday was designed to be “fast, fun and interactive,” believed to be the way Google search, the company said. Earlier in the day, involves a doodle white logo, which change the color of the user research writing. And [tweeted Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt said that “fast is about to get faster.” On Google’s official, says the company instant images that can save 04:58 seconds in the search, and if everyone uses it at the global level, can provide 3.5 billion seconds in the day.
